    • Teksty w większości ręką Napoleona. Potwierdzając autentyczność kodeksu H. B. Maret podał, że Napoleon napisał w całości dokumenty oznaczone numerami: 2-7, 9, 11-13, 15-16. Dokumenty 8, 10, 14 pisały trzy różne ręce kancelaryjne z poprawkami Napoleona, a 17 jego adiutant J. A. Junot.
    • Karty rękopisu podzielono na dwie szpalty: prawa zawiera tekst dyktowany przez Napoleona adiutantowi Jean Andoche Junotowi z poprawkami Napoleona, lewa dopisy Napoleona. Do wydania pism Napoleona S. Askenazy dołączył facsymile fragmentów lub całości następujących dokumentów: 1-6, 10, 16-17. S. Askenazy opisał też okoliczności powstania poszczególnych dokumentów.
    • Obydwie strony oprawy zdobione plakietkami z herbami cesarstwa. Na narożnikach osadzono cztery pszczółki.
